Dominican President Luis Abinader has honored former minister Roberto Álvarez by presenting him with a high official distinction. This ceremony highlights the diplomatic career of the former government official, alongside other award presentations in the country.

The distinction. President Luis Abinader awarded the Gran Cruz de l'Orden del Mérito de Duarte, Sánchez y Mella to former foreign minister Roberto Álvarez. The ceremony took place in the Salón Embajadores of the Palacio Nacional, in the presence of Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The tribute. During the gathering, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó read out decree 646-26 to officialize the recognition of the work accomplished by the diplomat at the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 2020 to August 2026, in the service of the Dominican Republic. According to El Día (RD), the former minister also spoke to ask partner countries to accelerate the deployment of the security force in Haiti.

The police. According to El Nuevo Diario, the National Police organized a distribution of distinctions awarded by President Luis Abinader via decree 761-26. This gathering was held in Santo Domingo to honor members of the armed forces as well as civilian figures, among whom are artists Fefita La Grande and Teodoro Reyes.

  Haiti's national police have announced the death of Galaxie, a suspected leader of a criminal group. According to information circulated by Erikpr News and confirmed by El Nuevo Diario, the police operation took place last Thursday in the Bercy area between Cabaret and Arcahaie.
• Haitian National Police's 37th class graduates at the National Police Academy
  The Haitian National Police (PNH) graduated its 37th class on Friday 30 October 2026 at a ceremony at the National Police Academy, according to Ticket Magazine.

• Jean Price-Mars at 150: ANESRS holds a day of commemoration
  The National Agency for Higher Education and Scientific Research (ANESRS) held a day of commemoration on Friday 30 October 2026 for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dr Jean Price-Mars, according to Ticket Magazine.
• Gonaïves makes 3, 4 and 5 November paid holidays every year for Saint Charles
  The Gonaïves municipal council has declared 3, 4 and 5 November "non-working and paid" days throughout the commune for the feast of Saint Charles Borromeo, the city's patron saint.
• EDE party welcomes publication of electoral calendar, with reservations
  The political party Les Engagés pour le Développement (EDE) welcomed the Provisional Electoral Council's (CEP) publication of an electoral calendar on Friday, October 30, 2026. In a statement, EDE said the announcement is an important step toward restoring democratic and constitutional order in Haiti.
• Haitian arrested in Villa Altagracia over alleged ties to 400 Mawozo
  Dominican police are investigating a man of Haitian origin who was detained on Wednesday in Villa Altagracia after rumors linked him to the Haitian criminal gang 400 Mawozo. The suspect was arrested in the municipal district of San José del Puerto and is now in custody at the Haina reception center.

• Haiti's U17s begin final training camp ahead of World Cup
  Haiti's young Grenadiers left the country on Tuesday, October 27, for a training camp in Brazil that will run until December 13, ahead of the U17 World Cup, which will take place from November 19 to December 13.
• U-17 World Cup: Haiti open against France on 19 November, the Grenadiers' schedule
  Haiti's under-17 side will open the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar against France on Thursday 19 November at 8 a.m. Haiti time, according to the tournament schedule. The Grenadiers then face Uruguay on Sunday 22 November at 10:30 a.m. and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday 25 November at 8:30 a.m.

  Former Spanish-French football striker Michel Pineda died on Thursday, the Espanyol Barcelona announced. Born in Spain and having played for several French and Spanish clubs throughout his career, he was best known for his performances at Espanyol Barcelona.

  Jake Johnston, a Haiti specialist at the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR), revealed on Friday that the United States, Colombia and the Dominican Republic are providing logistical support for El Salvador's military intervention in Haiti.

The historian Beaubrun Ardouin was born 230 years ago

230 years ago, on October 30, 1796, Beaubrun Ardouin was born in Petit-Trou-de-Nippes. A historian and politician, he wrote Études sur l'Histoire d'Haïti, published between 1853 and 1865. Un autodidacte au service de l'État Having grown up during the revolutionary period, Ardouin had little formal schooling and educated himself, drawing inspiration from Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Rousseau.
