Dominican Republic: Luis Abinader decorates former minister Roberto Álvarez with the Gran Cruz

President Luis Abinader awarded the Gran Cruz de l'Orden del Mérito de Duarte, Sánchez y Mella to former Chancellor Roberto Álvarez. The ceremony took place in the Salón Embajadores at the Palacio Nacional, in the presence of Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, the Minister of Relaciones Exteriores.

Tribute to six years of diplomatic commitment

During the gathering, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó read out decree 646-26. This measure officialises the recognition of the work accomplished by the diplomat at the head of the Ministry of Relaciones Exteriores from August 2020 to August 2026, in the service of the República Dominicana.
According to El Día (RD), the former minister also spoke to ask partner countries to speed up the deployment of the security force in Haiti.

Orden del Mérito Policial ceremony

According to El Nuevo Diario, the Policía Nacional organised a distribution of honours awarded by President Luis Abinader through decree 761-26. This gathering was held in Santo Domingo to honour members of the armed forces as well as civilian figures, among whom are artists Fefita La Grande and Teodoro Reyes.
