Comedian Daniel Fils-Aimé, known as Tonton Bicha, is registered as a Senate candidate in Haiti's Nord department for the DEBLOKE political coalition. His name appears on the Provisional Electoral Council's (CEP) candidate dashboard, checked by NAGO on Friday 30 October, as DEBLOKE's titular candidate for senator in the Nord.

According to the outlet Faces of Haiti, he registered on 11 October 2026 through the CEP's online platform. His candidacy is still subject to verification and approval by the electoral authorities: the CEP says the figures on its dashboard are preliminary and that the final list will be published only after the files are examined.

In the same camp as Michel Martelly

DEBLOKE is also the coalition under which former president Michel Martelly has registered for the presidential race. According to the CEP register, the coalition has 23 Senate candidacies across the country, three of them in the Nord: Daniel Fils-Aimé, Marie Jossie Étienne and Gaby Silencieux. In all, 378 Senate candidacies appear on the platform.

The news sparked widespread reaction online, Faces of Haiti reported. Under the outlet's post, some users asked whether the candidacy was serious or a joke, while others criticised it more harshly.

A Cap-Haïtien figure

Born in 1973 in Cap-Haïtien, the capital of the Nord, Daniel Fils-Aimé rose to fame in 1992 in Brother's Posse's "Anne" sketch, then reprised the character in the films I Love You Anne (2003) and We Love You Anne. A comedian, actor and host, he has also recorded rap songs as MC Bicha.

The CEP has set the first round of the presidential and legislative elections for 18 July 2027, according to Juno7. NAGO had found no public statement from the candidate on his platform at the time of publication.
