Melchie Dumornay dominates

Melchie Dumornay continues to rack up awards and remarkable goals with OL Lyonnes. The Haitian forward is establishing herself at the top of the French championship while leaving her mark on the international stage.

The recognition. The Haitian international finished in fourth place for the 2026 Women's Ballon d'Or, the rankings for which were unveiled on October 26 in London at the London Palladium. This is the highest ranking of her career for the 23-year-old player, who thus climbs 14 spots in a year following her eighteenth-place finish in 2025.

The absence. The player was not present at the ceremony organized for the 70th anniversary of the trophy, as her club decided not to make the trip in order to prepare for a Champions League match against Inter Milan. Spaniard Alexia Putellas won the trophy for the third time, finishing ahead of Ewa Pajor and Khadija Shaw.

The records. In the Première Ligue, Melchie Dumornay has scored ten goals since the start of the season with OL Lyonnes, which is as many as the entire Paris Saint-Germain team after seven matchdays. She reached this total on October 31 in Montpellier, where Lyon won five goals to two.

The standings. OL Lyonnes occupies first place in the championship with twenty-one points, five more than the Parisian women. The forward leads the Première Ligue goalscorers' chart, ahead of her teammates Ada Hegerberg and Marie-Antoinette Katoto.
