About 525 tonnes of equipment and supplies from Bangladesh have been shipped to Haiti with financial support from Germany, for the deployment of the Bangladeshi contingent of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), Le Nouvelliste reports. The German Embassy in Port-au-Prince announced it on Thursday, November 5, 2026, in a statement saying the logistics operation was carried out in several stages with various international partners.
According to La 1ère, the cargo, including containers, vehicles and UN military equipment, left the port of Haina in the Dominican Republic for Haiti on Sunday, November 1. The Dominican Foreign Ministry announced the shipment, and UN official Daniela Kroslak praised the logistical support of the Dominican authorities, who made their port available to the United Nations.
A second German shipment
It is not Berlin's first help to the GSF: Germany had already facilitated the airlift of more than 600 tonnes of priority equipment from Bangladesh, according to Le Nouvelliste.
Authorized by the UN Security Council in 2025, the GSF is meant to reach 5,500 troops and 50 civilian staff, but its deployment has been slowed by difficulty finding contributing countries. Its mandate was extended by six months in September.
