According to HaitiLibre, Royal Caribbean will keep its ships away from Labadee, Haiti, until at least April 2028. The company has now postponed its return three times. Political turmoil and gang violence in Haiti are continuing, and HaitiLibre links the new extension to them.

Royal Caribbean and other large cruise lines stopped calling at Labadee in mid-2025. HaitiLibre says that was when instability and violence in the country had become unmanageable.

Passengers and ships affected

Royal Caribbean has started contacting passengers whose bookings included a Labadee stop, to tell them their itineraries are changing. HaitiLibre reports that dozens of sailings on nine ships are affected, among them Adventure of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas.

Passengers will get automatic refunds for any shore excursions they had already reserved. This covers excursions at Labadee and at other ports whose schedules were altered to fit the revised routes.

An assessment of security

HaitiLibre also cites Sam Vigersky, who works on public policy at the Council on Foreign Relations, in comments he gave to Reuters. He said: "The overall security situation [in Haiti] is not trending toward stabilization, but rather toward escalation."
