Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has dismissed predictions of failure regarding the operation conducted in Haiti and expressed confidence that he will prevail. This intervention follows the disappearance of four Salvadoran technicians caught in an ambush set by armed groups.

The ambush. Four Salvadoran aeronautical technicians from the international GSF mission disappeared on October 18 in Croix-des-Bouquets, on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, during the attack on their armored vehicle. President Nayib Bukele demanded their release alive and unharmed, describing these nationals as technicians rather than combatants.

The deployment. Faced with this situation, Salvadoran special forces landed in Haiti to support the search efforts in the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac alongside the national police. Dominican President Luis Abinader subsequently offered logistical and intelligence support to back the operations against the armed gangs.

The bodies. Charred human remains were found on October 24 near the capital, but the Salvadoran leader stated that they did not match the four missing servicemen. He specified that these remains belonged notably to a child and an individual wearing the uniform of another army.

The assurance. Despite criticism from analysts and warnings regarding the difficulty of the Haitian terrain, Bukele dismissed the hypothesis of a military failure. He reaffirmed his certainty of victory by framing the mission from a spiritual and divine perspective.
