About the programme

A decision made in Washington, a price rise on a distant market, a crisis in a neighbouring country: many events that happen abroad end up touching daily life in Haiti. World Brief gathers NAGO News's international coverage into one hour, choosing its stories by a single question: how does this concern Haitian households?

Every story comes with the context needed to understand it. Rather than running through headlines, the programme explains where a situation comes from, who the main players are and what may follow from it here, whether for families, trade, travel or money sent home. Stories with no direct link to Haiti are not left out, but they are handled so that they make sense without any prior knowledge. Names of places, organisations or procedures are explained along the way, so that nobody loses the thread for want of knowing what they mean.

Airing in the middle of the night, World Brief suits Haitians in the diaspora, for whom it is often a more convenient hour, as well as viewers in Haiti who want to follow the world in quiet. It complements the channel's bulletins, which focus on the country, by opening a window on what is happening elsewhere and bringing each story back to what it means for Haiti.
