The National Energy Sector Regulatory Authority (ANARSE) announced on Friday, October 30, 2026, that it has published a new plan for the development of Haiti's electricity sector. This document is part of the Program to Improve Access to Electricity in Haiti (AMACEH), supported by the Ministry of Public Works and financed by the Inter-American Development Bank.
The Electricity Sector Development Plan outlines strategies aimed at enhancing access to electricity, improving infrastructure reliability, and promoting economic and social growth through better governance and funding mobilization. It focuses on developing six regional power grids supplemented with mini-grids and solar home systems for remote areas. The plan also emphasizes integrating renewable energy sources like solar power combined with battery storage.
ANARSE released the document to increase public awareness of sector-related information, promote transparency, and encourage a deeper understanding of proposed strategies. This comprehensive planning tool is designed to guide Haiti's electricity system development over time.
