Entèvyou

The long interview, given room to go past the first answer — one guest for the hour, with time enough that the prepared lines run out.

About the programme

A guest's first answer is often the one they prepared. Entèvyou is built to go further. For a full hour, NAGO News welcomes a single guest, with no other subject and no other speaker, and gives the conversation time to move beyond ready-made lines to what the person actually thinks.

This long format changes the nature of the exchange. Questions can return to an incomplete answer, ask for an example, point out a contradiction or explore something left unsaid. The guest, for their part, has room to add nuance, explain their background or defend a position with arguments rather than slogans. For viewers, it is a chance to judge for themselves, hearing someone speak at length and in their own words. The pace is that of a real conversation: pauses, rephrasings and returns to an earlier point are all part of the exercise.

Scheduled early in the afternoon, Entèvyou sits between the midday bulletin and the afternoon's long-form programmes. It is for those who want to know more about the people who make the news in Haiti and in the diaspora, beyond the few seconds quoted in a bulletin. Where Bonjou Ayiti welcomes a guest each morning to explain the story of the day, Entèvyou is interested in the person and in what they have to say.

What you will see

  • A single guest for the full hour
  • Questions that return to incomplete answers
  • Time for nuance and explanation
  • An interview that lets the guest finish the thought
  • A portrait of the guest beyond the stock phrases
