An artist in the studio for the hour: performing, playing back work in progress and explaining the decisions behind it. The conversation stays on the craft rather than the celebrity.
For an hour, an artist settles into the NAGO Music studio. They perform, play back work in progress and explain the decisions behind it: why this arrangement, why that vocal, why a song went one way rather than another.
Atis Nan Studio is interested in the craft, not the celebrity. The conversation is about how a song gets built, not about the guest's private life or the gossip of the moment. Hearing an unfinished version, then understanding what is still left to do, shows how much work happens before a track reaches the radio or a music video. The parts performed live in the studio show the artist without the polish of a finished recording.
The programme is for curious listeners, but also for young musicians, in Haiti and in the diaspora, who want to understand how others go about it. It stands apart from the rest of the morning on NAGO Music: after the continuous videos of Videyo Non-Stop, it is one of the few hours given over to talking about music, before Zouk Lanmou picks up again with the songs.
Every day. Live on nago.tv, on the NAGO Music channel.
