Midday prayer, short enough to take on a break — one passage, one prayer, and a moment of quiet.
In the middle of the day, between two tasks, there are sometimes a few minutes to spare. Midi Lapriyè is designed to fit into that time: a short prayer you can take during a break at work, at the table or in a quiet moment at home, without having to set aside a whole hour.
The format is deliberately pared down. A single passage of scripture is read, followed by a single prayer, then a moment of quiet. There is no argument or teaching to follow, only enough to stop, breathe and refocus before going back to what you were doing. That simplicity lets you enter into prayer in a few moments and leave it without feeling you have missed something. The silence, in particular, is not dead air: it is space left for each person to pray for what concerns them.
Midi Lapriyè echoes Priyè Maten, the prayer of the early hours, but it does not serve the same purpose. In the morning, you pray before the day begins; at midday, you pray in the middle of what it brings, with its worries and its requests. The programme comes after the late-morning testimonies and before the afternoon music. It is for workers, traders, students and everyone, in Haiti and across the diaspora, who wants to keep a moment of prayer at the heart of a busy day.
