About the programme

A song cut off after a minute does not say much. Gospel Videyo makes the opposite choice: music videos and recorded performances play in full, from the introduction to the last note, so you hear what the performer meant to do with the piece, not just its best-known chorus.

The programming covers the whole of Haitian gospel on screen. You see choirs and worship teams from Haiti, but also voices from the diaspora, singing the same faith from other cities and sometimes in other styles. Moving from one to the other shows how far this music has travelled while keeping its roots. Performances are shown complete, with no voice-over on top and no excerpt trimmed to make room for something else.

The programme fills the late morning, just after the sermon and before Bible study. After an hour of the spoken word, it is a lighter moment, when music takes over again and the picture matters as much as the sound. It suits those working from home, parents with young children, or anyone who wants to discover Haitian gospel artists they do not yet know. For the diaspora, it is also a chance to see what is being sung in Haiti, and for Haiti, to hear what its people abroad are singing.

What you will see
