The International Organization for Migration (IOM) published a report on September 14 indicating that more than one million four hundred sixty-six thousand eight hundred people were recorded as displaced in August 2026. These figures reflect a concerning situation related to insecurity in the country.

New Population Movements

Recent incidents, such as those that occurred in Kenscoff Port-au-Prince on September 15 last year, have led to significant displacements. More than four thousand two hundred people were displaced following a violent incident in this region. These movements add to previous ones where nearly six thousand people had already left the same commune a few weeks earlier.

Humanitarian Aid

The IOM provided assistance to 93,878 displaced persons in August. This aid covers various areas, including water and hygiene for 19,882 people, as well as medical care for another 19,582 individuals. Housing assistance was also provided to 809 displaced families.

Insufficient Funding

Humanitarian funding remains below the necessary level. According to the IOM, the global appeal for Haiti was funded only at 54% last August. This situation underscores the need to find additional resources to meet growing needs.
