Spanish striker Jesus de Miguel Alameda died on Tuesday morning (0700 GMT) following a serious collision during a match between CD Tenerife and FC Andorra. The incident occurred towards the end of the game at the Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez stadium, where both teams were tied 2-2.

During an attempt to clear the ball from midfield, Equatorial Guinea international goalkeeper Jesus Owono collided with de Miguel, who was fouled in the process. Owono received a red card for his actions and the match was abandoned shortly after. Tenerife announced that de Miguel had suffered severe injuries leading to a cardiac arrest and resuscitation at the hospital where he later died.

Spanish police have initiated an investigation under judicial supervision into the circumstances of the incident, according to sources cited by AFP.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation postponed matches scheduled for Tuesday in both Copa del Rey and Copa de la Reina as a sign of respect. Additionally, European football governing body UEFA announced that a minute's silence would be observed before upcoming Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League fixtures this week.

Former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique expressed his condolences on social media: "I am so deeply sorry. Rest in peace, Jesus." Other clubs such as Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and La Liga side Espanyol also sent messages of support to de Miguel's family, teammates, and Tenerife fans.
