Sports parks: five rehabilitation projects from November, a FIFA-standard stadium studied in Les Cayes

Five of the country's sports parks are to be rehabilitated starting this November under the 2026-2027 budget, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) says in the September issue of its magazine, JES Magazine, released on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The ministry also details its plan for two football stadiums meeting Concacaf and FIFA standards, one in Les Cayes and the other in the North.
The five parks
According to the magazine, the five parks chosen for the first phase are Parc Saint-Joseph in Pemerle (Fonds-des-Nègres), Parc Serge E. Bernadel in Miragoâne, Parc Sténio Vincent in Gonaïves, Parc Levelt in Saint-Marc and Parc Saint-Victor in Cap-Haïtien. Le National had already reported the five-park rehabilitation program in late October. The budget includes 105 million gourdes for Parc Vincent ([read our article](https://nago.tv/news/105-millions-de-gourdes-pour-la-rehabilitation-du-parc-vincent)).
The ministry says it wants to "first restore existing fields, then build new ones." The work follows two assessment tours, of the Grand Nord in August and the Grand Sud in September. The needs identified range from locker rooms, toilets and lighting to stands, turf and fencing. In Miragoâne, the two locker rooms, the field and the stands are rated most urgent.
A stadium studied at Parc Larco
For the South, Parc Larco in Les Cayes has been chosen as the site of a future modern stadium. A feasibility study is to be carried out "shortly." Minister Pythagore Dumas visited the site on October 10, according to Vant Bèf Info, which notes that a land dispute has hampered the park for more than ten years. For the North, no site has been found yet. Neither the cost nor the timeline of the stadiums has been announced.
Lacking expertise in the country, the ministry plans to be assisted by Concacaf and FIFA experts through the Haitian Football Federation. It has opened a recruitment notice for two civil engineers and two architects, and informed universities of scholarships abroad in sports infrastructure.
What Concacaf requires
Since 2021, Haitian clubs and national teams have not been allowed to host competitive matches at home, after violence at the January 10, 2021 Arcahaie FC - Violette AC final and the March 22, 2021 attack on Belize's team bus. They play abroad instead ([read our article](https://nago.tv/news/l-histoire-se-repete-la-republique-dominicaine-ferme-ses-stades-aux-grenadiers)).
The magazine stresses that better security or a renovated park will not be enough. Concacaf's 2026-2027 rules require, among other things:
- a medical center for spectators and a medical room for each team, near the locker rooms;
- an international airport within 150 km or 120 minutes of the stadium;
- separate hotels, meeting Concacaf and FIFA standards, for the home team, the visiting team and the match officials;
- an inspection by Concacaf and FIFA before final approval.
Also in this issue
The magazine covers the official welcome for world kickboxing champion Chavannes Grégoire and the recruitment of 100 civic action brigade members in the North, and profiles sports journalist Jean-Pierre Étienne and skater Valentina Lalanne, the first artistic roller skater to officially represent Haiti internationally.
