Haitian culture and storytelling will be in the spotlight at the 2026 Miami Book Fair with three discussions on Haiti's literature, history, spirituality and language, L'Union Suite reports. They will take place on Sunday, November 22, as part of the ReadCaribbean program at Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. Miami Dade College describes ReadCaribbean as a Haitian and Caribbean literary and cultural series whose main events are held each year during the fair in November.
The day opens at 11 a.m. with "What We Carry," a conversation about Haitian history, family memory, identity and the stories passed down through generations. At 1 p.m., "Beyond the Veil" will explore Haitian spirituality, Vodou traditions, dreams and ancestral beliefs. The final session, "Ayiti nan Nouvèl," starts at 3 p.m. and will focus on Haitian journalism and media representation, around one question: who gets to tell Haiti's story?
In Creole and English
The morning talk will be held in English with Haitian Creole interpretation, and both afternoon sessions in Haitian Creole with English interpretation. According to L'Union Suite, the event is free and open to the public.
The 43rd Miami Book Fair runs November 15 to 22, 2026, with Street Fair weekend November 20 to 22, and this year offers programming in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole, according to Miami Dade College and WLRN.
