Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer picked up a new injury to his left foot in Saturday's match against Mainz. It happened in the 40th minute, when Neuer came out of his area to try to clear a ball, but teammate Jonathan Tah accidentally collided with him with his head. The ball then went to Lee Jae-sung, who headed it into the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Neuer was already dealing with a left foot injury this season and had missed four of Bayern's last five matches because of persistent pain in that tendon. He went off in the 44th minute, replaced by Urbig, and the exact extent of his new injury is not yet known.

Substitute on the bench

Jonathan Tah was directly involved in Neuer's injury when he accidentally hit his goalkeeper with his head. Lee Jae-sung, whose goal was disallowed for offside, was also on the pitch when the incident happened.

Current situation

Bayern Munich is still facing the question of whether to replace Neuer in the coming matches because of the recurring injuries to his left foot. The exact extent of the injury, and how long he may be out, remain to be determined.
