Minister Raina Forbin asked British officials in London about the difficulties Haitian nationals face in giving biometric data for UK visa applications, according to HaitiLibre. The meeting took place on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the British Foreign Office. Anaïse Manuel, Haiti's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, accompanied her.
Who she met
Forbin held talks with Harriet Thompson, Director for the Americas, and with the officials who handle Haiti-related matters.
What was on the agenda
The talks covered Haiti's national priorities: the security situation, the electoral process, and the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration process.
Forbin thanked the United Kingdom for supporting stabilization efforts in Haiti. She singled out its backing for the human rights compliance framework covering the security force.
She also said Haiti wants to benefit from the commercial opportunities of the Developing Countries Trading Scheme.
The visa issue
The last point Forbin raised concerned visas. Haitian applicants run into problems with the collection of their biometric data. The report does not say how the British side responded to this or to any other point.
