Signatories of the National Pact held a press conference on Friday in Delmas 69 to call for credible, inclusive elections as early as the first half of 2027. With security, economic and institutional crises shaking Haiti, they say citizens have a right to choose their leaders.
According to Christina Juliana Vilmé Delmas, protecting citizens and restoring public trust must be the priorities. She urges political actors to put dialogue and the country's higher interest first in order to restore a stable constitutional order.
The Assembly proposes that the electoral process be completed before the end of 2027, which will require careful planning by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). In particular, it is calling for the swift publication of a detailed calendar covering all administrative and security aspects.
The organization also recommends measures to make it easier to take part in the electoral campaign, while encouraging cooperation with the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) without compromising the CEP's autonomy. It also calls for adherence to precise, non-revisable timetables to ensure transparency and accountability.
