Launch of Industrial Week to Revitalize the Sector

The Prime Minister presided over the official launch on Thursday of an initiative aimed at reviving Haiti's industrial sector, bringing together key figures from the economic and academic communities.

According to Le Nouvelliste, this first edition is taking place at the Karibe Hotel around themes such as the revitalization of industry. Roberto Augustin, assistant director of the Directorate for Control and Industrial Regulation (DCRI), highlighted the importance of an industry that transforms resources into jobs and opportunities.

David Coles, president of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH), emphasized the need for Haitian industries to have the necessary means to function. He also stressed the fight against smuggling and called for innovative investments.

Dieuseul Prédélus, rector of the State University of Haiti, reminded that without local skills, the country cannot innovate. He pleaded for close collaboration between universities and the industrial sector to invigorate it.

Sandra Paulémon, Minister of External Cooperation, underscored the importance of a coordinated vision involving the state, private sector, and partners. She called for territorialized industrialization that brings industry closer to Haitian families.

James Monazard, Minister of Commerce and Industry, noted that industrial production had decreased in recent years. He stressed that modern industry must rely on local skills to develop.

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé stated: "Revitalizing our industry means reducing our dependence on imports by valuing our local resources, creating wealth and stable jobs for our youth, and strengthening our economy in an increasingly competitive world."
