ONA awards property of Eddy Jérôme for unpaid debt
According to the newspaper Juno7, the Office national d'assurance-vieillesse (ONA) has published a summary document regarding the seizure and auction of a property belonging to Eddy Jérôme for the benefit of Johanne Israël. This clarification, signed on October 7, 2026, by Director General Lovely François, aims to detail the administrative and legal steps taken to recover unpaid funds.

According to Juno7, Eddy Jérôme joined ONA as a project officer on July 14, 2021. Although he had not accumulated the five years of affiliation required by the decree of November 4, 1974, the institution granted him a mortgage loan of 41,750,000 gourdes on November 26, 2021, before Me Dina Seide. Jérôme also served as a minister-counselor at the Haitian diplomatic representation in the Dominican Republic. The last payment on this loan occurred on September 19, 2025. As of July 7, 2026, the established balance sheet indicated a claimed debt of 43,901,471.89 gourdes.

To obtain repayment, a legal enforcement measure was initiated with the service of a writ of payment on July 10, 2026, Juno7 reports. Bailiff Pierre-Louis Pierre drew up a report certifying the posting of notices on August 13, 2026, on which date an advertisement also appeared in Le Nouvelliste. The building was awarded on August 24, 2026, to Johanne Israël before Me Jean Joseph Frantz Céant. With no claims or higher bids during the legal three-day period, a property title was issued on September 2, and the Prosecutor's Office then granted the exequatur on September 4 before the new owner was installed the following day.

This sale remains contested by Eddy Jérôme, who criticizes the conditions of the transaction and makes accusations regarding the loss of his property. For its part, ONA maintains that all operations were conducted in accordance with contractual clauses and the law.
