Lauryn Hill and Haitian-born Wyclef Jean launched the "Fugees Hopeline" on Thursday, November 5, 2026, an interactive sound artwork created with the London public art platform CIRCA, Complex magazine and BroadwayWorld, which published CIRCA's announcement, reported. The project accompanies the US tour celebrating 30 years of the Fugees' album "The Score."

The idea: call +1 (424) 7-FUGEES (7-384337). Callers hear personal messages from Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean and a first listen to a new Fugees medley, narrated by Hill's daughter Selah Marley. They can then record their own message about hope. Outside the United States, the same number can be reached through WhatsApp with no international calling charges, according to CIRCA.

"Hope means something different to everyone"

"With Fugees Hopeline, we want to hear everyone else's stories," the two artists said, as quoted by Complex. "Hope means something different to everyone," they added. The project is inspired by "Dial-A-Poem," the poetry-by-phone line John Giorno created in 1968.

According to Complex, contributions are open until December 31; after that the line will stay live for listening only.

An exhibition in Miami in December

A selection of the messages will be presented at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach on December 4 and 5, 2026, during Art Basel Miami Beach, in an exhibition co-curated by Lauryn Hill, according to CIRCA. Hill also made three collages sold as limited editions on CIRCA's website. The tour stops in Las Vegas on November 6, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on November 8 and in Seattle on November 10.
