Fils-Aimé runs for election at the UN

Fils-Aimé recalled his generation's hope to see democracy take hold after 1986 but has since faced repeated political instabilities and transitions. He stated that the upcoming elections on December 13 will mark a turning point in the country's history.

He emphasized the need to restore security to ensure credible and transparent elections. The Prime Minister also noted that his government had already taken several measures to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process, including recruiting necessary human and financial resources.

Thirty-nine years after Henri Namphy presented to the UN in 1987 in a similar context marked by violent elections, Fils-Aimé expressed his wish that the commitments made this time would be followed by concrete actions.
