About the programme

Once the facts are known, it remains to understand why things turned out as they did. That is the job of Analiz, NAGO News's analysis and comment programme, airing in the evening right after the main bulletin. Over an hour and a half, it returns to the day's main stories to explain what drove them.

The people speaking are those who follow these stories every day. They know the issues, their history and the people involved, and can explain what lies behind a decision, a statement or an event. The programme does not repeat the bulletin: it starts from what has been reported and looks for causes, chains of events and likely consequences, drawing a clear line between what is fact and what is interpretation. Viewers learn to place a piece of news within a longer story, to recognise what is truly new and what merely extends a familiar situation, and to judge for themselves how solid an explanation is.

Analiz is for viewers who, having seen the news, want to go further. In Haiti and across the diaspora, the country's news is often complex, made up of long-running situations and old causes. Placed late in the evening, the programme lets people end the day with a clearer view of what it brought. It complements the big debate, which centres on the clash of opinions, with a calmer reading of the news.
