Verly Dabel, project coordinator, highlighted this as the culmination of a year-long celebration honoring René Depestre's seminal contributions to literature. Ernst Saint-Louis, Director General of the DNL, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the "In Praise of Literature" program aimed at promoting books and their creators.
Stéphanie Saint-Louis, Director General of the Ministry of Culture representing Minister Emmanuel Ménard, thanked the contributing authors for keeping Depestre's poetic legacy alive. Former Minister Patrick Delatour noted that this year of tribute was a result of deep reflection on Depestre’s work significance.
The ceremony featured moving testimonials and readings by Titi Congo before concluding with an artistic performance.
