La Paix University Hospital (HUP) received a state-of-the-art C-arm surgical imaging system on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026. The equipment was donated to improve the quality and safety of surgeries, particularly in emergency cases.
At the signing ceremony, representatives from various organizations attended, including Dr. Jean Philippe Lerbourg, Medical Director at HUP; Oscar Barreneche, Representative of PAHO/WHO in Haiti; and officials from the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP).
The C-arm system provides real-time radiological imaging during procedures, enhancing precision and patient safety. It is especially useful for managing trauma cases such as armed violence injuries and road traffic accidents.
This initiative was led by MSPP with support from PAHO/WHO and funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES). The installation of this equipment highlights the importance of partnerships in strengthening healthcare services in Haiti, particularly at a time when many hospitals are operating under reduced capacity or have closed due to insecurity.
