President Abinader of the Dominican Republic has issued a stern warning to terrorist groups operating in Haiti, stating that any attempt by these groups to approach the border will result in severe consequences. "We have significantly strengthened our border security, particularly in the south where gangs are active," said President Abinader during an interview with press representatives.

The president highlighted several measures taken by his country's military and security forces, including deploying additional personnel, armored vehicles, and surveillance drones to monitor movements near the border. He emphasized that "we have aircraft flying over the border, armored vehicles stationed nearby, and we also have drones at our disposal."

Abinader noted that Dominican authorities are prepared to treat any gang members who approach the border as terrorists. The president added, “These terrorists can be certain that if they approach, they will have a very bad time.” He assured that his government is coordinating with other nations like El Salvador and its Gang Suppression Force (GSF) for logistical support and intelligence sharing.

The Dominican President also mentioned speaking to Nayib Bukele of El Salvador about the situation. However, he did not specify what resources would be made available or provide details on the extent of this cooperation. Additionally, Abinader stated that so far there have been no signs of increased border crossings by Haitian citizens due to security concerns.

Abinader concluded his statement by noting that while several specific locations in Haiti where these terrorist groups are based will likely face targeted operations from Haitian security forces, the Dominican Republic has not seen any immediate threats and remains vigilant but prepared for all contingencies without direct military involvement within Haiti itself.
