Economist Etzer Emile has entered Haiti's presidential race, joining a field of 21 candidates announced by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) for July 18, 2027. In an Oct. 31 video that went viral, Emile declared his candidacy and outlined his top priorities: security, employment, and social justice.

Emile's campaign leverages a new political platform called Solèy ("Sun"), symbolizing light as Haiti moves forward from its crises. The website voteretzer.ht combines policy proposals, volunteer recruitment, and digital donation systems targeting both Haitian and international contributors. Emile emphasizes the importance of transparency in his fundraising efforts.

Emile's campaign spokesperson Harry Luc told The Haitian Times via WhatsApp that the process is still at an early stage but promised to maintain transparency throughout. "The problem," Emile said during a speech, "is not the truck; it’s the kind of driver that needs to change."

Solèy aims to build a competent team of experts from various sectors if Emile wins. His proposals include strengthening law enforcement and justice institutions for security, implementing tax reforms to attract investment for employment, and promoting equal treatment and transparency in government spending for social justice.

Online supporters have reacted positively to Emile's candidacy, with over 21,000 likes, nearly 5,000 comments, and more than 5,000 shares on Facebook alone. Filmmaker Naldo praised Etzer Emile as "a true patriot," urging Haitians to support his campaign.
