Devotees of the Gédé spirits gathered in Ouanaminthe, in Haiti's Northeast Department, on Nov. 1, 2026, to open their Fèt Gede observance with songs, dances and performances, The Haitian Times reports. The outlet describes the Gédé as spirits belonging to Kafou, the four corner street. Its photographer, Edxon Francisque, documented the gathering in images and video.
A local group takes the stage
Grann Bataklan, a group based in Ouanaminthe, joined the festivities. Its members sang, danced and performed pieces built around this spiritual tradition, in front of the people who had come to the cemetery.
Coffee, children and chili peppers
Merisier Denia handed coffee to visitors. She said she had brought it in honor of the Gede.
Families made the visit together, and children came along with their parents. During one performance, a woman held a bottle filled with chili peppers.
The coverage includes offerings, family visits and performances, but it does not say how many people attended or how long the observance lasted.
