News from the departments, reported by the people who live there — the stories that rarely reach a national bulletin, kept in their own context.
Haiti is more than its capital. For an hour, Rejyon hands the floor to the departments, with news reported by people who live there. They are the ones who know the places, the customs and the local issues, and who can tell what is happening at home without looking at it from a distance. They see things as neighbours rather than visitors, and that changes the way a story is told.
Many of these stories rarely reach a national bulletin: the life of a commune, the state of a rural road, a harvest, a school, a market, a concern particular to one area. Rejyon gives them their full place and keeps them in their own context, rather than shrinking them to a news brief. The same news does not mean the same thing in a large town and in a remote rural section, and the programme takes the time to explain that.
For people in the regions, it is a chance to see their own reality on air. For the diaspora, many of whom trace their roots to a provincial town or village, it is a direct link to the place their family comes from. Airing in the late afternoon, just before the evening bulletin, the programme complements the NAGO News bulletins, which include regional reports, by devoting a whole hour to what is happening outside the capital.
Every day. Live on nago.tv, on the NAGO News channel.
