The first bulletin of the day, on air before most people leave the house — overnight developments, the weather, and what is scheduled for today.
Before the coffee, before the first tap-tap, there is Jounal Maten. It is the first bulletin of the day on NAGO News, on air while most people have not yet left the house. In one hour, it brings together what happened overnight, the day's weather and what is scheduled for the hours ahead.
The morning bulletin has a practical job. It helps people plan their day: whether to expect rain, whether an expected event is likely to disrupt travel, whether a situation reported the day before has changed overnight. Stories are therefore set out in the order that is useful to someone about to head out, first what has changed, then what lies ahead today. The format is tight, without long digressions: the essentials come early in the bulletin, for those who have to leave before it ends.
In Haiti, the day starts early, whether you are going to the market, to school, to the office or to a building site. Jounal Maten is designed for that rhythm, and for the diaspora who want to know as soon as they wake how the country is doing. It opens the channel's morning of news and then hands over to a longer, more relaxed programme that takes time to come back to the stories of the day.
Every day. Live on nago.tv, on the NAGO News channel.
