About the programme

In the evening, NAGO News makes room for genuine disagreement. Gran Deba brings together guests who do not think alike and gives them the time to explain why. Over an hour and a half, guided by a moderator, each one defends a position, responds to the others and spells out what separates them from those on the other side.

The audience has a place too. Questions from viewers are put to the guests during the programme, which keeps the discussion close to people's real concerns. The moderator keeps speaking time balanced and the exchanges clear, without taking sides, so that every argument can be understood and judged. The length of the programme also leaves room for full answers: a guest who is asked a question can develop the idea instead of replying in a single sentence.

This big evening programme differs from the morning debate. Where Deba sets two positions against each other on a precise question, Gran Deba welcomes a wider range of views and lets the discussion broaden. It comes at an hour when many families in Haiti are home and can follow a long programme, and when the diaspora, in North America especially, is finishing its day. It is often this kind of debate that later fuels conversations at home, at work or on the phone with relatives.

What you will see

  • Guests who genuinely disagree
  • Time to explain each position
  • Questions from the audience
  • A moderator who keeps the exchanges balanced
