One story reported in depth over a full ninety minutes: the background, the documents and the people involved, rather than the headline version.
A headline fits on one line; a story rarely does. Dosye devotes a full hour and a half to a single subject, covered in depth by NAGO News. The programme goes back to the origins of the matter, examines the documents involved and hears from the people directly caught up in it, to offer something other than the short version heard in the bulletins.
That long running time allows for a different kind of work from the bulletins. It becomes possible to piece together a timeline, to compare what was said with what was written, to show how a situation was built up step by step. Viewers follow the reporting as it unfolds and end up with the material they need to understand the subject for themselves, rather than a conclusion they are simply asked to accept. Points that remain uncertain are flagged as such, and where different versions of the same fact exist, they are set side by side.
Dosye is for those who feel a story has slipped away from them because it was told in fragments, day after day. In Haiti and across the diaspora, some questions keep coming up in conversation without anyone being quite sure where they started. Airing in the afternoon, between the bulletin and the news from the regions, the programme takes one of those questions back to the beginning, without stopping at what happened today.
Every day. Live on nago.tv, on the NAGO News channel.
