UPEPH warns of risks for teachers when withdrawing their checks
The Progressive Union of Haitian Parents (UPEPH) denounced on Wednesday, September 26, the decision made by the Ministry of Finance, which requires teachers to go to the Anténor Firmin High School to collect their checks. According to UPEPH, this measure exposes these workers to risks related to insecurity in several areas of the country.

The organization indicates that teachers based in Croix-des-Bouquets and other localities must present themselves at the Anténor Firmin High School on September 21 and 22. Employees of the national schools in Gressier and Carrefour were invited to make these trips on Thursday, September 24, and Friday, September 25.
UPEPH emphasizes that this situation threatens the safety of teachers, particularly due to the persistent context of insecurity. The organization requests the Ministry of Finance to postpone the imposition of these trips until a significant improvement is observed in security conditions.
The union structure recalls that the ministry had already organized similar operations involving fingerprinting and photographing. UPEPH estimates that these practices have not been sufficiently secure to protect teachers.
