Trump meets Mamdani to defend TPS

Mamdani emphasized the importance of TPS for "one of the most essential communities in our city." He explained that this issue is crucial not only for these immigrants but also for their families and various local institutions. The mayor also mentioned the support received during events like the Labor Day Parade.

Trump confirmed having heard Mamdani's concerns on this matter: "The mayor feels very strongly about it, I can tell you, and he brought it up." He added that he understands well these important issues for New York.

Previously, Nicole Malliotakis had called on the White House to reconsider its decision regarding TPS. Additionally, Rita Joseph, a Haitian-American city council member, also advocated for the reinstatement of this status during the Labor Day Parade event.
