Publisher Changes Its Mind

On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the Quebec publisher announced it had discovered new information confirming that artificial intelligence was used in the writing process of the novel. This statement marks a radical change from the previous position maintained by Éditions du Boréal, which claimed to not have elements allowing them to confirm the use of AI.

Author Denies Accusations

In a statement released on October 13 by his publisher, Thélyson Orélien reaffirmed that he had nothing to prove to those accusing him and that his efforts were over. He had previously denied any use of AI in writing the book.

Consequences for the Novel

Following this announcement, Éditions du Boréal decided not to reprint "C'était ça ou mourir" and to end their collaboration with Thélyson Orélien. Despite this, the book remains currently available in bookstores.
