During this meeting, Arnel Rémy, coordinator of the Collective of Lawyers for the Defense of Human Rights (CADDHO) and lawyer for the National Grouping of Bar Owners (GNTB), stated: "We will not comply with this decree." The GNTB considers this measure a violation of human rights.
The ADVOCATUS LAW FIRM, CADDHO, and the GNTB have also strongly condemned this decree in a press release. They assert that it threatens the economic livelihood of Haitian bar owners and demand that the government revoke this decision.
Statements and Reactions
The National Grouping has published a strong press note against the new fiscal regime imposed by decree, asserting that this text endangers their economic activity. The GNTB therefore threatens to go on strike to demand the retraction of the decree.
The ADVOCATUS LAW FIRM and human rights defense organizations have also taken a stance against this government measure, deeming it contrary to fundamental principles of human rights. They are calling on the Alix Didier Fils-Aimé government to revoke this fiscal decree.
