Magdalena Andersson, leader of the opposition Social Democrats and former prime minister, hopes to regain leadership of the country after four years under a conservative government. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has been campaigning for re-election since 2022.
An Ipsos poll published by Dagens Nyheter showed both blocs nearly tied, with the left credited with 49.3% and the right with 49%. Final results are expected after voting ends on Sunday evening.
Early Voting
More than a third of voters have already voted early. The election could determine not only the next governing majority but also the integration of the SD party into this new coalition.
