Didier Deschamps, the former France national team coach, is now the subject of a rumour that he could take over at Italian club Juventus. Stéphane Guy, a commentator on Canal+, voiced his reservations about such a return on the programme "Late Football Club", broadcast on 27 October 2026.
Guy believes it would be a bad idea for Deschamps to go back to Juventus right now. He says: "Bad idea at the moment. It's a club that's going downhill." The commentator recalled the difficulties the club went through during Deschamps' previous spell, adding that current coach Luciano Spalletti is under pressure following disappointing results.
According to the Italian press, as relayed by Football.fr, Juventus are reportedly weighing up several options to replace Spalletti. One of them is a return for Deschamps to a club he knows well, having both played for and coached the Bianconeri at different times.
Stéphane Guy stresses that despite the shared history between Juventus and Didier Deschamps, it would be wise for him to wait for better opportunities. He says: "I think there will be better opportunities for Didier Deschamps in the coming months than Juventus in Turin."
Current situation
Juventus are indeed facing a difficult season, with several poor results that have put Spalletti under pressure. This situation makes the prospect of Deschamps returning to a club he has already known as a player and coach even more complicated.
