The victim was identified as 22-year-old Jeralys M. Guzman, who died at the scene near Estate Castle Burke on October 17, 2026. Emergency medical personnel rushed her front-seat passenger to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center, where they are currently fighting for life with severe injuries.

How the crash occurred

A northbound black Acura collided with Guzman's white Toyota RAV4 as her vehicle headed eastbound at the intersection of Queen Mary Highway and East Airport Road. The violent impact propelled the RAV4 off the street and onto its side against a roadside tree, causing extreme damage to the vehicle.

The driver and passenger inside the Acura survived the crash. Both individuals were taken to the medical center, where staff treated them for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities launch inquiry

Detectives from the Traffic Investigation Bureau responded to the scene after receiving a dispatch at approximately 4:54 a.m., according to VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte. Police cordoned off the area to document gouges and tire marks on the roadway. The official investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident is currently active.
