Seven people, including six Haitian nationals without identification, were detained along with their vehicle in Monción, in the Santiago Rodríguez province. The Policía Nacional announced that they would be handed over to the Ministerio Público.
The vehicle and its driver
The vehicle is a gray Honda CR-V. Its license plate is alleged to have been falsified, but this remains a presumption. The driver is a Dominican who lives in the same province. The two media outlets do not spell his name the same way: N Digital calls him Juancarlos Batista, and El Nuevo Diario Juan Carlos Batista.
The passengers
The six foreigners were traveling with a woman and a minor among them. None of them showed any identity documents to the officers at the time of the check.
Next steps
The seven occupants and the car were taken to the Monción police station. According to N Digital, the operation was carried out by members of that station, as part of its prevention and surveillance missions. El Nuevo Diario specifies that the Dirección Regional Noroeste is thus aiming for the safety of residents and the prevention of illicit acts. The Dirección Regional Noroeste has made it known that it will continue its operations in the region.
