Prophet Markinson Dorilas released on provisional liberty
Prophet Markinson Dorilas was released on Monday, September 21, 2026, after more than two months in custody. Judge Étienne Mercier ordered his provisional release as part of an investigation into a suspected fraud case involving a travel agency. This decision came following an order issued on September 18 lifting his detention warrant. Markinson Dorilas had been arrested by the Central Judicial Police (DCPJ) on July 8, 2026, as he was leaving the Port-au-Prince prosecutor's office.
His provisional release does not end the investigation. The judicial inquiry continues to establish the facts and determine responsibilities in this case. According to judicial sources, the measure should be carried out within the next few hours.
