Election of Giovanni Malagò and Mancini's position threatened by procedure

The general sports prosecutor, Ugo Taucer, believes that the lack of a federal licence at the time of his candidacy constitutes a condition of ineligibility.

CONI must determine if this irregularity represents a serious enough violation of the rules to justify intervention. Such a decision could call into question all decisions made since Malagò’s election, including the appointment of national coach Roberto Mancini.
Mancini is set to submit his first list on Friday. If Malagò’s status is invalidated, Mancini’s could be weakened and he might be pushed out. CONI intends to thoroughly examine the conclusions of the general prosecutor, as well as the arguments of the FIGC and Malagò, before announcing a decision in the coming weeks.
