Annual inflation in Haiti returned to 18.9% in June 2026. In Pétion-Ville, the food situation is deteriorating with this price hike. Transportation is also becoming an aggravating factor: the trip from Delmas to Pétion-Ville now costs 75 gourdes, up from 50 previously, and Delmas to Gérald by tricycle is now 50 gourdes.

According to testimonies gathered by Le National, even a sum of 100,000 gourdes is no longer enough to cover essential expenses, while many workers earn less than 1,000 gourdes per day.
