Privert promises to bring more than a million children back to school in 100 days

Former interim president Jocelerme Privert, a presidential candidate running under the banner of Ayiti Transfòme, has set out five priorities for the first hundred days of a possible term. They are security and state authority, the relocation of displaced people, schooling, the integration of young people and the revival of the economy. According to Scoop FM, he presented them on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, on the programme Haïti-Débat, the day after filing his application at the BED-Ouest 1 on October 19. The filing is a step in the electoral process and does not amount to validation of his candidacy.
Gangs, displaced people and national highways
The candidate wants to make dismantling armed gangs a central objective. He opposes both dialogue with these groups and amnesty for them, but argues for a reintegration programme for the children who belong to them. He also calls for investment in the security forces and for a state presence across the whole territory: "Public services must be present even in the most remote corners of the country."
He plans to rehouse displaced people living in camps and to get more than a million children back into a classroom. On the integration of young people, the concrete measures, the funding and the timetable are not specified. To revive the economy, he first wants to free the national highways controlled by gangs.
Elections hoped for between February and March 2027
Privert thinks a vote between February and March 2027 is possible. He says: "It will be a great misfortune for the country to arrive at the start of 2027 without an electoral process that is nearing completion." He believes the population is worn out by insecurity, the prolonged absence of elections and the worsening socio-economic situation. This is his own assessment, not a fixed date.
Eligibility and PetroCaribe
Asked about people who have been sanctioned, he says he sticks to the Constitution and the electoral decree. He says he has never been linked to any criminal or financial wrongdoing and that he enjoys his civil and political rights. He recalls that he began as a simple clerk at the Direction générale des impôts. On PetroCaribe, he insists that his administration took no part in squandering the funds and that its role was to pay the debts.
A trip to the Dominican Republic
According to Rezo Nòdwès, citing consistent sources, Privert travelled to Santiago de los Caballeros in the middle of the week. On Friday he met a businessman linked to the CODEVI industrial park there to discuss his campaign. These sources suggest it may have been an attempt to secure financial backing. His private secretariat, when contacted, did not respond, so his side of the story has not been obtained.
The same outlet points out that Article 186 of the electoral decree of June 2, 2026 prohibited any direct or indirect funding from a state authority or from an individual or legal entity of foreign nationality. That prohibition still appears in the revised decree published on October 6, 2026. Rezo Nòdwès adds that voices in civil society consider Ayiti Transfòme to lack any patriotic grounding.
