Peterson Pierre-Louis becomes president of the CEP

At his installation, Peterson Pierre-Louis called on political parties to engage in open and respectful dialogue. He did not announce any changes to the decree or the planned electoral calendar for the first round of elections on December 13, 2026, and the second round on February 21, 2027.

The change in leadership comes as the holding of the upcoming elections is surrounded by uncertainties, particularly due to the country's security situation. The new CEP resumes preparations based on the already set deadlines without altering the schedule.
