ONA pledges to act on the forum's recommendations

The Director General of the ONA, Lovely FRANÇOIS, emphasized that modernization could no longer be delayed. She indicated that the system must take into account changes in the world of work and demographic evolution, as well as population aging.

Jamesy DELPHIN, an actuary at the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), presented key financial data. More than 450,000 contributors are registered with the ONA, while only 5,513 pensions are actually paid out. According to the figures presented, for every 100 gourdes in contributions, 17 gourdes represent the margin and 11 gourdes correspond to expenses related to pension payments and fees. The remaining 72 gourdes are lost due to monetary erosion caused by inflation.

Raoul TRIBIER, from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), discussed legal and regulatory aspects applicable to insurance companies. He also highlighted the need to strengthen internal audits to ensure stricter oversight.

Montserrat Pallares MIRALLES, a retirement specialist, presented several international models and stressed the importance of expanding the coverage of the contributory system. She emphasized the necessity of defining clear objectives and adapting the communication strategy.

At the end of the forum, Lovely FRANÇOIS announced that the recommendations would be analyzed to produce concrete proposals that would serve to develop the ONA's strategic plan for institutional strengthening. The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Marc Élie NELSON, praised the contributions of various stakeholders and committed to supporting the process.
