A World Bank delegation toured the Nippes department on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from Fonds-des-Nègres to Anse-à-Veau, to see on the ground what two farm projects it funds have built: the Resilient Agriculture for Food Security Project (PARSA) and the Resilient Productive Territories project (TPR II). It was accompanied by the Ministry of Agriculture (MARNDR), which reported on the visit.
The tour was part of the four-day mission the World Bank opened in the Grand Sud on November 3, according to Vant Bèf Info. The day before, the delegation was in Fonds-Rouge Torbeck, in Grand'Anse ([read our article](https://nago.tv/news/grand-anse-banque-mondiale-inspecte-routes-parsa-fonds-rouge-torbeck)).
Cassava and rice in Fonds-des-Nègres
In Fonds-des-Nègres, the delegation visited two processing units equipped with TPR II support. The first, run by the Farmers' Group for Economic and Environmental Development (GADEE), turns cassava into cassava bread, konparèt fòs, flour and starch. It received graters, presses, griddles and sieves. Its managers say about 60 tonnes of cassava were processed there in twelve months. Its products go to supermarkets and school canteens, among others.
The second, in Jovange, is run by Agro-Pasto Service (APS). It hulls rice and processes corn grown in the area, mainly on the Abraham plain. It produced about 216 tonnes of white rice in twelve months, according to the ministry.
A hub for the canteens of 39 schools
In Petite-Rivière-de-Nippes, PARSA provided the Nippes Farmers' Network (ROPANIP) with an aggregation center. It collects, stores and distributes fresh and dry produce for the canteens of 39 schools in Paillant, Fonds-des-Nègres, Miragoâne, Anse-à-Veau and Petit-Goâve. A grain warehouse completes the site.
In the same commune, the delegation saw a household cistern built by TPR II. Residents described how hard it is to get water: long walks, the cost of buying water and dependence on rain.
Eleven fish ponds in Abraham
In Abraham, TPR II built an eleven-pond fish farm for the OPDABA organization, meant to develop fish farming in the area and diversify incomes.
The tour ended in O-Rouck, in the commune of Anse-à-Veau, where the delegation visited other PARSA and TPR II works. The ministry does not detail them.
What the beneficiaries said
Farmers and leaders of organizations presented their results and the problems that remain, according to MARNDR. The ministry gives neither the cost of the works visited nor the problems raised.
Under the ministry's Facebook post, several readers asked for the effort to reach other regions, such as the Northwest or Dame-Marie, and called for modern farm machinery.
