Republican Senator Thom Tillis challenged the legality of this agreement, asserting that it could contravene laws aimed at depriving Moscow of the financial resources needed to wage this war. Several analysts also doubt its effectiveness regarding diesel prices.
Donald Trump announced an immediate energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, a decision greeted with caution by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The latter conditions this halt in strikes against Russian refineries on a ceasefire by Moscow on its energy infrastructure in Ukraine.
